The new Chanel J12.xs Watch

Chanel, the French luxury label, has launched the “J12.XS” women’s watch, an extra-small version of its legendary timepiece. More than a timepiece, this audacious model is today transformed into a fashion statement and couture accessory, ready to match the looks and moods of the moment alongside daytime and evening ensembles.

Created in the year 2000 by Jacques Helleu, the black “J12” has regularly evolved over time, keeping pace with innovation to become a timeless classic. After adding a moon phase, a flying tourbillon and a mirror dial, the French fashion house has now worked its iconic timepiece into a mini 19mm-diameter format. The “J12” has never been so small, with previous sizes ranging from 29mm to 42mm.

More than a timepiece

Chanel’s sporty “J12” women’s watch gets a brand new look with the “J12.XS.” As well as evoking its “extra-small” size, the name also echoes at this model’s style and look, hinting at “excess.” This new watch is, in fact, a concoction of contradictions, capturing feminine, sporty, modern, refined, couture, fashionable and iconic aspects.

Its small size brings new possibilities too. While the “J12.XS” can be worn alone, this small-format watch can also adorn iconic accessories. It is brought to a ring (black ceramic and white gold, baguette-cut diamonds and a round faceted diamond), and — in a nod to Karl Lagerfeld — is even worked into a pair of gloves. These come in classic black lambskin or in a special black lambskin pair hand embroidered by Maison Lesage with black beads.

Bang on trend, the J12 also struts its stuff on a selection of cuffs, with black and white, small and large models, with and without diamonds. The cuffs are made from calfskin, some with a patent finish. A prestige calfskin model is hand-embroidered by Maison Lesage in black or white sequins and spherical glass beads.

Signature high-tech ceramic

The charm and characteristics of the original J12 remain at the heart of this new version, with a case in white or black high-tech ceramic and steel (or 18K white gold for the ring). Here, only the size changes, shrinking to 19mm for a subtle and stylishly look.

All models have an inner bezel set with brilliant-cut or baguette-cut diamonds, whereas the dial comes in black or white lacquer, black onyx or white onyx.

The “J12.XS” has a quartz movement and offers hours and minutes functions. Each model comes with a patent calfskin strap.
